BOXING CONTESTS

RAYNER’S EARLY VICTORY (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday In a professional boxing contest last night the light-weight champion of New Zealand, Clarrle Hayner, of Blenheim, 9st 91b, beat Harry Summers, of Australia, 9st 51b. The match ended early in the second round by a win for Rayner on a knock-out. A preliminary professional match between Brian McKay, of Auckland, 9st 9Mb, and Joe Collins, of Palmerston North, 9st 121 b, ended in the Aucklander's favour at the conclusion of the seventh round. The Auckland Boxing Association's medical officer was called, Collins’ right glove was removed and he was pronounced unfit to continue the contest.
