GERMANY’S DETERMINATION

“WILL DEFEND OUR RIGHTS” HITLER HURLS DEFIANCE AT BRITAIN NATION MUST BE ARMED TO THE TEETH (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 5, 11.15 a.m.) BERLIN, June 4 Hurling defiance at “British encirclement,” Herr Hitler, addressing 215,000 ex-servicemen at Cassel, said Britain’s aims remained the same as before the world war —namely, the destruction of Germany’s trade, the annihilation of her mercantile fleet, and the robbery of her colonies. Germany was guiltless of the world war, hut the Treaty of Versailles revealed the war aims of the other Powers, which persisted in England and France. Germany’s only war guilt was her frivilous neglect of armaments before 1914. “I am convinced,” said Herr Hitler, “that Germans can reflect on the story of the war with the greatest pride. Nobody has the right to consider himsell above the German people. We no longer suffer from an inferiority complex, but are determined to defend our rights- Threats will no longer intimidate us. “If the encirclement proves the same as that before the war there will he one difference —namely, Germany’s defence policy has fundamentally changed- 1 have taken care that all in leading positions are 100 per cent soldiers, not civilians dressed up in majors’ uniforms. (Ihis is a reierenee to Herr Thmann-Hollweg, Germany’s wartime Ghancellor). “It is our duty to tell the nation the truth, but we must he armed to the teeth. The nation must be militarily trained and educated.”
