BALTIC STATES

OPPOSITION TO SOVIET ANGLO-FRENCH VIEWS “WENT FAR ENOUGH” (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. copyright) LONDON, June 3 The Estonian newspaper Paevaleht in an authoritative statement says the Baltic States think the Anglo-French proposals to Russia went far enough, says the Warsaw correspondent of the Times. They resent Russia’s gover-ness-like altitude. The paper adds: “Russia should understand that the neutrality of the Baltic States would be a protection of Russia’s frontier. “Germany's proposed non-aggres-sion pacts are proof that she does not intend to infringe their neutrality.” Guarantee Not Wanted An Independent Cable Service message says that M. Karl Selter, Foreign Minister of Estonia, told a representative of the Daily Express that Estonia did not want any Soviet guarantee, lie believed Latvia and Lithuania were also opposed to being included in a pact. M. Selter added: “Estonia feels that a neutral country cannot sign such agreements as soon as any great Power, without any invitation from us, tries to appear in the role of protector against aggression. We would consider that Power to he itself acting as an aggressor.” Estonia was prepared to accept help from Britain and France, but only in the event of danger.
