At Jaffa a bomb injured the mayor of Jaffa, a member of the Arab moderates, while sitting in a cafe. The authorities later closed all the cinemas indefinitely. ARAB HIGHER COMMITTEE REJECTION OF WHITE PAPER (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright; LONDON, June 2 The Arab Higher Committee, in explaining its rejection of the British White Paper, says it doubts whether Britain will keep her promises and considers that independence cannot be realised if it is conditional upon Jewish co-operation, says the Beirut correspondent bf the Times. The committee says the period of transition is not fixed as Britain claims the Light to prolong it. Further, the committee denies Britain's right to frame a Constitution and the Jewish right lo comprise onethird of the population. It claims the complete prohibition of the transfer of lands to Jews.
