PEACE CONVENTION

FIRST FOR SOME YEARS GATHERING AT CAMBRIDGE Anxious not so much to propagate pacifist ideals as to provide a setting tor a tree and open discussion on a problem of first importance at the present time, the org&uisers ot tne Peace Convention to be neld at Cambridge on Monday are expecting a large attendance at the lectures. The convention is the first held in New Zealand for many years. People will attend the convention from as far south as Christchurch and from as far north as Whangarei. Among the more prominent visitors will be Mr J. Entwistle, the wellknown English member of the Society of Friends, who will fly from Christchurch to New Plymouth and motor to Cambridge oh Monday. A message will be read from Krishnamurtl, the Indian philosopher and lecturer. On the subject of "The Bankruptcy of War,” Mr L. Pickles and the Rev. M. Sullivan will speak. "The Approach to Peace" will be dealt with ■ by Mr M. Young, secretary of the Wellington branch of the Peace Pledge Union, and Mr C. R. Howell, ■ secretary of the Auckland branch of 1 the Christian PaciiJst Society. 1 "The Necessity of Pacifism" is the subject of a lecture to be given by Mr A. R. Barrington, secretary ot the : , Christian Pacifist Society, Wellington.
