CONSTABLE’S DEATH
MR THOMAS JOSEPH GRACE 26 YEARS IN HAMILTON The death occurred in Hamilton yesterday of Mr Joseph Thomas Grace, a member of the Police Force hi Hamilton for 26 years. Before joining the force in 1903, Mr Grace was an artilleryman in the permanent forces at Wellington. He was sworn in as a police officer in Wellington and then went to Christchurch, where his father was chief detective. Mr Grace was transferred to Thames in 1912 and came to Hamilton in 1913. While in Hamilton he was engaged in office work. Mr Grace was granted sick leave three months ago. The late Mr Grace was born in Thames 64 years ago. He was educated at St. Joseph’s College, Sydney, and afterwards returned to New Zealand where, in his younger days, he was well-known in cricketing circles. His widow, four sons and two daughters survive Mr Grace. The sons are Messrs T. P. Grace (Wanganui), E. M. Grace (Auckland), P. J. Grace (Wellington) and C. J. Grace Hamilton) and the daughters, Mrs McDonald Poole (England) and Miss B. Grace (Hamilton j. At the funeral to-day the police force was represented by SeniorSergeant G. H. Lambert.
