METAL TRADES STRIKE
COMPULSORY CONFERENCE CONCESSIONS BY BOTH SIDES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) SYDNEY, June 1 A compulsory conference of the parties in the metal trades strike was held to-day and adjourned until tomorrow. Concessions, it is understood, have been made by both sides, resulting in high hopes of a settlement. The settlement proposals formulated at the compulsory conference and accepted by the strikers provide that grievances shall be referred to arbitration.
