TRANSPORT ISSUE
AUCKLAND-MORRINSVrLLE RUN NO RESTRICTION ON TRIPS The No. J Transport Licensing Auth- ] ority, Mr E. J. Phelan, yesterday rr j vised a decision of tbe Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, regard ling the Auckland-MorrinsviJle service, fresh evidence being submitted. When the Northern Transport Company, Limited, which operates the service, applied for a renewal of its | license, Mr Phelan granted Ihe application, giving the company the right to operate without restriction as to trips imade with one vehicle. The Railway ; Department appealed to the Minister. ! who restricted the service to Mondays. Wednesdays and Saturdays. I The company applied for the removal of these restrictions, and also for the right to operate within a livemile radius of the Morrinsville Post Office. Mr Phelan declined the right to operate within a wider area, but removed the restrictions as to the days on which the company could operate the service, stating his opinion I that the license was necessary and desirable in the public interest.
