WINTER SHOW VISITORS E MANY POPULAR FEATURES CHILDREN ARRIVE FROM SCHOOLS Visitors continue to pour into Hamilton from all over Uie Waikato and surrounding districts to inspect the Waikato Winter Show and, with gale taking* showing an encouraging level, present indications are that the Anal figures will create a new record for the association. Throughout yesterday Rledisloe Hall and its annexes were thronged and in the evening still larger crowds were present The weather has treated the sideshow proprietors kindly and, with fine days and clear nights attracting large crowds, the outside entertainments have been well patronised. The health and fitness display has also continued to draw a considerable amount of support and has earned praise for the Instructive and varied nature of the material on the stands. Keen interest has been taken in the large bacon exhibit during the last two days, while the trade exhibits have also claimed a good deal of attention. Free Entertainments Always a popular feature of the show, l?ie free entertainments provided by the association in Bledisloe "Hall have made a great appeal this ■year and have been counted as the best ever seen at the exhibition. First and foremost is Al. Santells’ troup of tumblers, wire walkers and trapeze artists who have delighted audiences In many parts of Australia and New Zealand over the last few years. The work they can carry out in a resticted space is really amazing, while for feats of balancing they have never been surpassed at the show. Worthy of special mention is the act in which Joe Santell, lying on his back, balances a ladder on his feet while one of the girls climbs to the top, hangs head downwards and then weaves her body through the rungs. Al. and Joe Santell work well together as a Jeam in the wire-walking act, Joe Santell’s clowning making' a great appeal with the crowd.
Another item on the free entertainment list is the clever rope spinning bv an Australian exponent, while dancing by pupils of Miss Jocelyn Howe and band items have also been popular during the evenings.
About 600 children from schools on the Mercer and Taumarunui lines visited the show yesterday and were given cups of cocoa on the lawn near the Hamilton Railway station prior to returning home. To-day special trains brought school children and other visitors from Waihi, Thames and Tauranga, and, in addition, children from the Hamilton schools also visited the exhibition. To-morrow a large contingent of school children is expected from Auckland.
