MUTTON AND LAMB IMPROVE SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS (By Telegrapn.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board report on the Smithfield market for the period ended June 1. Prices for lamb further advanced with the tone of the market strong. Wethers and ewes are meeting with improved demand at better prices. There is a fair trade, at unchanged prices, for frozen beef, while chilled is firmer on lighter supplies. Light-weight New Zealand porker pigs are firmer, but trade generally is slow. Baconer pigs are quiet, and prices are unchanged. Boneless bobby veal is firm on lighter supplies. Quotations are:— New Zealand sheep: Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes, 49561 b., 31d; 57-641 b., 3id; ewes, 481 b. and under, 3fd; 49-501 b., 3d; 57G4lb., 2|d; 65-721 b., 2gd.
