No Room for Dictatorship The June issue of Metal, the journal of th** Northern District Kngincerimr and Related Trades I'nion of Workers, contains the following' reference to the 1039 conference of the Labour Party:—“The tumult of the 4939 conference has died down, but it will leave its mark on Ihe movement. This union will stand or fall by rank and file control, a principle that has been denied the Parliamentary Labour party tv Cabinet -no verba! or written ‘eyewash' can deny that fact. There is room for differences of opinion, but not for dictatorship, in the Labour Movement.”
Municipal Conference Remits The remits passed at the Municipal Conference,, in Dunedin last March, arc under consideration by tlie local government branch of the Department of Internal Affairs. The Minister for Internal Affairs, the Hon. \V. K. Parry, states that he is unable to say which are likely to be given legislative effect pending Cabinet consideration. Cabinet will also deal with the reintroduction of legislation for Uie amalgamation of local bodies.
