NATION’S ONLY HOPE
ROUND TABLE TALKS PRIME MINISTER’S OPINION XBj Telegraph—Pres* Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday Although no results have, followed on this suggestion months ago that a world conference of nations should be called to consider the removal of the causes of war, the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, is still of the opinion that k round table talk is the only hope for chrilsatlon. A solution to the world’s difficulties could not come in any 'other way; he said to-night in an interview. •* It cannot come as a result of war, but from a conference. "If the people have their way, and I want to emphasise it again, a conference should be held before a war begins rather than after it ends,” said Mr Savage. " If they are not in a temper to deal readily before war, they arc not likely to be in a better mood afterward. Nations may be smashed temperorarilv and rise again, and we go on in this stupid and apparently endless way.”
