PIAKO FEDERATION ELECTION OF EXECUTIVE (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday Thr chairman of the Piako Federated Golf Pools, .Mr R. A. Gandy, of Ngarua, intimated at the .annual meeting held at Morrinsville this week, that owing to other calls on his time he could not continue in office. Mr E. Palliser. of Springdale, was elected chairman. The federation executive was elected as follows: —Messrs J. Buchanan Ngarua). J. W. Attwood (Walton., N. E. Mikkelsen (Kiwitahi-Kc-reone,, E. Palliser and A. H. Coomb (Springdale-Elstow), A. E. Mikkelsen and J. T. Finnegan (Manawaru-Wai-hou), G. R. White (Tahuna), S. A. Ferguson Motumaoho), G. R. B. Haszard (Waihi), and G. A. Deihl .Putaruru .

Reviewing the operations of the federated pools for the 1938 bobby calf season, Mr Gandy said the six pools in the Piako Counts handled 58,400

calves from the Waihi and Putaruru districts, making a total of 70,000 calves. The organisation also marketed calves, and products valued at £42,000. The federation’s average pay-out to suppliers of calves was 7s 7.41 d per calf. The returns for the affiliated pools were as follows : Springdale-Elstow:—l7,6ol calves collected; return to suppliers per calf, 7s 7.82 d. Tahuna: 7641 calves; return, 7s 6.86 d. Manawaru-Waihou: —l4,622 calves; return, 7s 7.57 d. Motumaoho-Kurunui;—2466 calves; return, 7s 7.82 d. Walton:—4l27 calves; return. 7s 3.53 d. Ngarua:—66o7 calves; return, 7s 8.02 d. Kiwitahi-Kereone :—5336 calves; return, 7s 8.44 d. Total:—sß,4oO calves. Average return, 7s 7.41 d. MEETING AT GORDONTON SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS The first annual general meeting of the Gordouton-Puketaha Calf Pool was held in the Gordonton llall, when Mr C. Mexted presided over a large attendance. In moving the adoption of the report and balanc ; sheet, the chairman said that the past year’s operations had been very satisfactory. The pool had handled 4185 calves at an average weight of 64.06 lb., and had distributed £IB6O 14s 6d, an average of 7s 10.16 d. per head at the farm gate. It was decided that expenses entailed by each committee man should be handed into the secretary, such expenses to be charged to the administration account. It was also resolved to make advance payments in August, September and October and a final payment at the end of the season.

The following committee was elected: Messrs C. Mexted, W. Riddell, M. Gain, W. Finlay and H. Mayall.
