TWO KILLED
FATAL CAR SMASH WOMEN PASSENGERS ESCORTS ALSO INJURED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday Two women were killed and two young men were seriously injured in a smash on the Hutt Road about a miJe south of the Petone crossing about 2.40 this morning. Owing to the fact that all persons involved in the smash were either killed or seriously injured, the identity of the victims was in doubt for some time and extensive inquiries were made by the police before the names were known. They are believed to be:— Killed Audrey Wright, address not yet known. Mavis Eleanor Slxsmith, aged 18 years, a waitress, of 90 Elizabeth Street. Injured J. Kennedy, a traveller, staying at the Post Office Hotel, head injuries and concussion. Alfred Hollis, a mail sorter at the G.P.0., head injuries. Apparently the small truck in which they were travelling overturned.
Kennedy j,vas taken to hospital by a private car and the others were removed by ambulance. Miss Wright was dead before reaching the hospital and Miss Sixsmith died soon after admission.
