OARSMAN LEAVES
ENTHUSIASTIC FAREWELL PROCESSION AT THE STATION At Frankton Junction Railway Station last night a large crowd gathered to farewell Mr K. V. Halliday, an official of the Hamilton Rowing Club, and formerly on the staff of the money order and savings bank in Hamilton, who left for Wellington by the limited express. Over 50 members of the Hamilton Rowing Club and several former oarsmen, wearing club blazers, formed up at the station and, headed by the Hamilton Citizens’ Band, marched in procession around tlie station bearing the club flag supported on oars. For at least 20 minutes the demonstration continued until .iusl before the departure of tlie express when the crowd thronged a round'Mr Halliday and farewelled him in song. Confetti flew everywhere as the train drew out, taking with it one of tlie stalwarts of rowing in Hamilton for the past 14 years.
