OBITUARY
MRS LUCY ALDRIDGE The death occurred in Hamilton today of Mrs Lucy Aldridge, wife of Mr W. P. Aldridge, formerly Chief Postmaster in Hamilton. The late Mrs Aldridge, who was the daughter of Mr and Mrs R. 11. Nicholls, was born at Whitianga, where her father was manager for the Kauri Timber Company, l,td. After her marriage at Inglewood, Mrs Aldridge resided at Wanganui, Napier, Wellington, Auckland, Oamaru and Timaru prior to moving to Hamilton. She was closely associated with social organisations connected with the Post and Telegraph Department in the various towns and was also a member of tho Hamilton*Lyceum Club. The late Mrs Aldridge, who is survived by her busband and one son, Mr R. Aldridge, of Hamilton, was one of a large family of three sisters and five brothers. A service will be held at the deceased’s late residence, 47 River Road, at 11 a.m. to-morrow, prior to interment at Hamilton East. MR CULFORD BELL (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The death has occurred of Mr Culford Bell, the principal announcer of radio station IYA (Auckland), as a result of a surgical operation. Born in London Mr Bell came to New Zealand about 30 years ago after spending his young manhood in Canada and the United States. Oil the inauguration of IYA 13 years ago he was appointed senior announcer. He was well known in dramatic and elocutionary circles throughout New Zealand.
