The weather was dull and fhore was a light drizzle. The outfield was wet but the wicket excellent Sir Julien Calm won the toss for the first time during the tour and Dyson ami Dempster opened to the bowling of Cameron and Bennett. When ten runs were on the board Dyson gave a hard chance to mid-off off Bennett. Otherwise the batsmen were not troubled.
