SECONDARY PUPILS MEETING OF ASSOCIATION A successful record of achievement In the past and bright hopes for future activities was the keynote of the annual meeting of the Waikato Secondary Schools’ Athletic Sports Association held in Hamilton during the weekend. In the absence of the president, Mr W. G. S. Smith, headmaster of the Waihi High School, the principal of the Hamilton Technical College, Mr W. Fraser, presided and briefly welcomed the delegates. The report and statement of accounts disclosed a satisfactory position. Nine post primary schools were active members of the association and a tenth would be joining this year. At last year’s tournament five records were broken and two equalled. Financially the association was in a gratifying position as there were no outstanding accounts and there was a satisfactory cash balance in hand. Meeting On April 19. It was decided to hold the annual tournament for 1939 on April 19 at Hinemoa Park. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President, Mr H. Fawcett, headmaster of the Matamata High School; vice-presidents, Messrs W. G. S. Smith, J. G. Catran, H. D. Tali, W. Fraser, F. A. Mason, W. H. Hoult, D. McPherson and Brother Remigius; executive committee, Mr W. Fraser (chairman;, Brothers Remigius and Aloysius and Messrs Tait, Nelson, Malcolm. Day, Arbuckle, Entvvistle, Freeman, McPherson, Wilcox, Mason, Stafford, Baker, Simpson, Smith, and Fawcett; hon. treasurer, Mr L. I. Day; hon. auditor, Mr W. H. Allen; hon. secretary, Mr A. H. Malcolm. Records Approved The following records, established or equalled at last year’s annual tournament of the Waikato Secondary Schools’ Amateur Athletic Association were approved at the annual meeting of the association, held in Hamilton during the week-end.
