It is believed it was a Fascist protest against the Government refusal to admit General Gadja, a Fascist, to the Cabinet. Copyright) LONDON, Fefch 16 All Germany’s “defensive measures against the Jews” aim at inducing the Jews to leave Germany, says a message from Berlin. This is the explanation accompanying a further batch of anti-Jewish laws. The process provided for, says the official decree, “must be executed reasonably: Jews must retain sufficient cash for the purpose of emigrating” —because that is the intention. The latest decree forbids Jews to participate in wholesale and industrial undertakings, including forestry and farming. A decree issued by the Ministry of Economics forbids Jews to derive money from real estate; therefore, land and buildings must be sold to Aryan buyers under State supervision. The State retains the right to confiscate 70 per cent of “unjustifiable profits” resulting from sales. The decree continues: "Desirable patent right-s held by Jews should be transferred to Aryans.” Difficulty In Paying Fine It is most doubtful, according to the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, whether the second instalment, amounting to £20.000,000 of the £BO,000.000 fine imposed by the German Government on German Jews for the murder, by a Jewish youth, of Dr. von Bath, secretary to the German Embassy in Paris last year, can be secured because the first quarter has not yet been fully collected. “Moreover,” adds the correspondent-. “the estimates of wealth on which the fine is based are grossly exaggerated. This has necessitated the authorities, in order to extract the greatest possible sum. accepting payments in house property and shares', although jewellery and similar possessions must first be sacrificed. “The authorities have discovered that Jewish real estate is heavily mortgaged, thus greatly reducing its value, while Jewish-owned pictures are largely produced by artists whom the Nazis have declared debased and are accordingly unsaleable.”
