COLLISION NEAR BRIDGE

TAXI AND MOTOR-CYCLE PILLION-RIDER'S LEG BROKEN As the result of a collision at the corner of Bridge Street and River Road between a taxi driven by Mr H. V. Gilling and a motor-cycle on which he was a pillion-rider, Mr Percy Ward (26), of Tuakau, was admitted to the Waikato Hospital on Saturday evening with a broken leg. After the first impact the taxi swerved to the right, a cyclist, Gordon Smith, of Liverpool Street who suffered cuts and abrasions. also being involved. The taxi was coming off the bridge and the motor-cycle was turning from River Road on to it, while the cycljit was proceeding down Bridge Considerable damage was done to the taxi, which came to a stop against a telegraph pole. Both Mr Ward £pd Smith were taken to the Waikato pital in a St. John .Ambulance, the latter being discharged after receiving treatment.
