HAPPY AFTERNOON

FRANKTON CROQUET CLUB The ladies of the Frankton Croquet Club gave an afternoon recently to members who were successful in the South Auckland tournament. The winners present were:—B Champion: Mrs Clapp, who also was successful in winning the cup. Championship Doubles: Mrs Denz and Mr Mclntyre. A and B Handicap Doubles: Mrs Clapp and Mr Mclntyre. A grade Handicap Singles: Mr Mclntyre. Mrs Wigzell, the president of the Frankton Croquet Club, congratulated the winners and spoke in high terms of the excellent standard of play maintained in the club during the present season, and in congratulating those who were runners-up, she expressed the opinion that the club was fortunate in having material which she was confident would produce further winners in the near future.

Mrs Fow, the president, and Mrs Rockell, secretary of the South Auckland -Association, presented Mrs Wigzell with a bouquet in appreciation of the able assistance rendered by her during the tournament. Progressive croquet was played, the winners being:—A, Mrs Cave; B, Mrs Kemp: and Mrs Shepherd the lucky number, following which a delicious afternoon tea was served. Among those present were:—Mesdames Fow. Rockell, Wigzell, Denz, Morrison, Cave, Davies, Mclntyre, Muir, Smith, Coombes, O’Brien, McConnell, Clayton, Grant, Malone, Clapp, Hansen, Kemp.
