OBITUARY

VICAR’S DEATH REV. REGINALD J. BOYT SERVICES TO FRANKTON The death occurred in the Waikato Hospital last evening of the Rev. Reginald James Boyt, who has been vicar of St. George’s parish, Frankton, since 1931. Born in Monmouthshire, Wales, in 1905, Mr Boyt was a son of Mr John James Boyt and worked in a mine before entering the ecclesiastical college at Little Bardfield. lie was a member of the Brotherhood of St. Paul’s. Mr Boyt was ordained a deacon by the Bishop of Waikato in 1927 and a priest in 1928. He was assistant curate of Christ Church, Taumarunui, in 1927, in 1930 was appointed priest-in-change of St. George's, Frankton, being made >icar in 1931. Throughout his life Mi Boyt’s activities were mainly devoted to the affairs of the church.

The St. George's parish was in debt to the extent of £3OOO when Mr Boyt took over, and it has been mainly due to his untiring efforts that the debt has now been reduced to just over £3OO. He organised many successful, functions which materially assisted in the reduction of the debt, and he also formed several social clubs in connection with the church, perhaps the most successful being the St. George's Dramatic Club. In 1934 Mr Boyt was married to Miss Dorothy Ellen Wilkes, daughter of Mr G. E. A. Wilkes, and he is survived by his wife and one child. Holy Communion will be held at St. George’s Church at 6 a.m., 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Monday, and Requiem will be sung at 9 a.m., the funeral leaving immediately after for the Hamilton East Cemetery. MRS L. GOULTER-WARD (Special to Times.) RAGLAN, Friday The death has occurred at her residence, “Waitaroa,” Aotea, of Mrs L. Goulter-Ward, aged 85 years. Mrs Goulter-Ward was born in Nelson in 1854 and was the second daughter of the late Mr Cyrus Coulter. She was a niece of the Archbishop Redwood and a sister oi the Rev. Mother de Sales, of the Convent of Mercy, Wellington. She moved from Marlborough to Aotea 37 years ago. The late Mrs Go’ulter-Ward is survived by eight children, 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. MRS 8. A. FERGUSON (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Saturday The death occurred suddenly last evening of Mrs Mary Ferguson, wife of Mr S. A. Ferguson, chairman of the South Auckland Dairy Association and the Norfolk Co-operative Dairy Company. Born at Hunua, near Papakura, 65 years ago, she was one of the best known settlers of the Motumaoha district where she had resided for the past 30 years. Mrs Ferguson had just returned from visiting the Morrinsville Horticultural Society’s show T where 6he was an exhibitor. When the news was announced at the show by the president, Mr C. S. Brown, those present stood in silence as a mark of respect to Mrs -Ferguson, who was a member of the society. She had been associated with many activities of the district and while ill-health had precluded her from holding office she was a prominent member of the Motumaoho Women’s Institute. She is survived bv two daughters, Mrs S. Harris and Miss A. Ferguson (Motumaoho) and two sons, Messrs S. N. Ferguson and A. Ferguson (Motumaoho).
