FIRM MARKET

STORE SHEEP VALUES MORRINSVILLE QUOTATIONS VARIATION IN QUALITY A firm market for most classes of Breeding ewes was experienced at Morrmsvilif yesterday when large drafts from the East Coast the King Conutry, North Auckland, and Southern stations were offered. A wide range in quality was represented especially among the older ewes and considering this values on the whole were satisfactory. The demand for the better class of young sheep was good, while, after a slow *tart, older ewes Armed. For one good truck of two-tooths 6d was obtained, the best figure for some weeks, while other young Coast sheep made from 24s 3d. On the best of the four-tooth sheep 20s Ad was offered but the vendor declined to accept this figure. However, other well prown sheep in this class made to 19s and ranged from 17s. The quality of the five and six year East Coast sheep was not as good as that at most previous sales but the market did not suffer appreciably on this account, some of the poor quality ewes making surprisingly good money. Prices ranged from 15s to 17s 3d, while stx-year-old and mixed aged ewes met the market at from 11s d to 16s. A large entry of store lambs experienced a steady sale despite the fact that most were on the small side and often lacked condition. Good woolly descriptions were cleared from 10s to 13s Gd, while smaller and shorn lambs were traded from 7s Gd to 8s 9<L Culls made from 4s to 6s 3d. Little Beef Offered In a short entry of fat sheep best quality was represented in the fat lamb section where well Anished sorts were f cleared at wfrom 19s to 21s Bd. A few pens of wethers were dull of sale but a satisfactory clearance was effected at from 13s Gd to 17s 6d. For a line of maiden ewes 13s lOd was obtained w'hile other descriptions sold from 7s 9d to 12s. As at last week’s sale very Utile beef was on offer and no prime quality sorts were Included. Prices on the whole remained substantially the same as those at Prank ton. A small yarding of boners and a large offering of potter hulls were traded at unchanged rates. No alteration was noticeable in the fat pig section where the quality was not particularly pood. Top money for baconers was 74s while porkers ranged from 32s to 58s. There was a large proportion of small pigs in the store section and the market here was again weak.
