UNION ANNUAL CONFERENCE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday The appointment of Mr A. Humphreys, of Wellington, as secretarytreasurer of the New Zealand Timber Workers' Union was confirmed at the annual conference, which ended in Christchurch to-day. Mr J. Read, of Wellington, was elected president of the union, and Mr F. Craig, of Auckland, vice-president. One of Hie principal questions dealt with by the conference was the constifution of the union. The rules will be redrafted in the next few months and will be submitted for adoption to the next annual conference. A report issued by the president said that many matters of importance In workers in Ihe industry were considered, and the large volume of business transacted would have the effect of solidifying ihe organisation and improving conditions lor workers.
