OBITUARY
MRB H. KIRK (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE. Friday The late Mrs Marion Kirk, wife of Mr Herbert Kirk, of Morrinsville, who died this week, aged 73 years, was a pioneer of the Karamu district. Born in a tent al Te Awamutu when that district was a frontier settlement after the Maori War. Mrs Kirk spent her early years at Karamu. She married Mr Herbert Kirk, a member of another old Waikato family, 47 years ago. For over 20 years Mr and Mrs Kirk were farming at Karamu. where Mr Kirk broke in a property which lie farmed successfully until about 20 years ago, when he sold out and eame to Walton. With his sons he took up the homestead block of 350 acres of the Richmond Downs Estate. A few years ago Mr and Mrs Kirk came to reside in retirement in Morrinsville. There was a very large attendance at. the funeral at Morrinsville on Wednesday. A service at the Methodist Church was conducted by the Rev. R. W. Mayson. Over 60 wreaths testified to "the widespread sympathy of Waikato friends.
Mrs Kirk is survived by her husband and four sons. Messrs Gordon Lester and St an lev Kirk, of Walton, and Harold Kirk. of Morrinsvilh*. and by one daughter. Mrs H. McNaul. of
Walton. There are eleven grandchildren, including Miss L. Kirk, the Morrinsville and Waikato tennis representative.
