The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, is in Hamilton and visited Ituakura to-day.

The Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, yesterday received deputations at Kaitaia and was tendered a luncheon by the Mangonui County Council at Kaikohe. Mr Semple spent the night at Rawene. He will inspect local works to-day and will spend the night at Opunoni.

Mr C. M. Hume, herd recording supervisor of the Dairy Board, Wellington, visited Morrinsville yesterday.

Mr A. Ely has been re-elected president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.

Messrs G. W. Harty, T. G. Young and 11. S. Gilberd have been gazetted as members of the Opticians’ Board.

Mr A. J. Murdoch, of Whangarei, representative of the No. 1 Ward on the Dairy Board, visited Morrinsville yesterday for a ward conference.

Mr W. T. Hornibrooke, formerly stationmaster at Otorohanga, has been appointed assistant district traffic manager at Auckland.

Colonel N. P. Adams, of Clevedon, president of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Sheepowners' Federation, was in Hamilton yesterday.

Mr F. N. Slace, of Wellington and formerly of Hamilton, editor of the New’ Zealand Electrical Journal, is visiting Hamilton after attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers at Auckland.

Viscount Runciman, Lord President of the Council, who will arrive at Wellington on April 3 on a holiday visit to New Zealand, will be the guest of the Government during the time he is in the Dominion. He will leave from Auckland on April 18.

Sir Harry Batterbee, the first British High Commissioner in New Zealand, who will arrive at Auckland by the Rangitane on Thursday, March 9, will he the guest of the State until lie arrives at Wellington on the following day. Sir Harry will be given a civic reception in Wellington on Monday, March 13, and will be the guest of the State at a luncheon on the following day.

Three veterinary scholarships at the Sydney University Veterinary College have been granted this year by the New Zealand Government. The names of the students selected were announced yesterday by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin. They are Messrs Selwyn L. Niederer (Invercargill), lan M. Cairney (Ravensbourne, Dunedin), and Walter Mills (Paeroa). The students will leave for Sydney by the Awatea on March C.
