CONGRATULATORY PARTY

MRS H. C. ROSS HONOURED Mrs If. C. Ross was the guest-of-honour yesterday afternoon at a happy party when the Waikato Winter Show Ladies’ Committees met at the Lyceum Club to congratulate Mrs Ross on her appointment t.o the position of Justice of the Peace. The lounge was artistically arranged with laige bowls of pale blue hydrangeas and golden sunflowers, and or, arrival Mrs Ross was presented with a bouquet of autumn-tinted pompom dahlias by Mrs F. Bullock, wife of the president of the Waikato Winter Show Association, who acted as hostess. During the afternoon the guests were entertained with songs by Mrs lan Stuart, and the winner of a competition played was Mrs John Prenton. Following the serving of a delicious afternoon tea, Mrs Fow further congratulated Mrs Ross, and she was accorded musical honours. Mrs Ross suitably responded. To receive the guests, Mrs Bullock was wearing a black georgette frock patterned in multi-coloured squares, black georgette edge-to-edge coat and black Baku straw hat. The guest-of-honour wore a striped navy tailored suit and two-toned French scarf and a. navy velvet hat trimmed with navy and royal blue ostrich tips.‘Those invited were:—•
