WEDDING

WOOLVEN—FINLAY EMBOSSED BRIDAL GOWN The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Gliurch, Hamilton, recently, when Gwendoline, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Finlay, Forest Lake, Hamilton, was married to Alvin Harry, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Woolven, of Opoia Road, Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. G. Gilbert and the wedding music was played by Mrs Gilbert. The church had been beautifully arranged with large bowls of scarlet and white gladioli.

The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming slim-fltting gown of French crepe 1 embossed in true-lovers’ knots. The low V-shaped neckline was the commencement of a ruched panel in the ’ front, which fell in graceful folds to • form a long oval train. Her tulle veil was caught to the head with a topknot of white ostrich plumes and she 1 carried a sheaf of white roses and maidenhair fern. The Bridesmaids In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Olive Finlay, sister of the bride, and Miss Ailsa Woolven, sister of the bridegroom, who were attired in lovely frocks of white silk ninon. The ' entire frocks were sunray pleated which gave a charming Grecian effect. Their bouquets were composed of scarlet roses and maidenhair fern and they wore matching top-knots. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Mervyn Woolven, brother of the bridegroom, as best man, and by Mr George Paterson, of Auckland, as groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs J. B. Darrow and G. Hopcroft. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where a large marquee had been erected and artistically decorated with scarlet and white gladioli and rows of coloured lights hanging from a wedding bell. The guests were received by Mrs Finlay in a full-length gown of black cire brocade with diamante trimmings and matching accessories and she carried a posy of sc-arlet buttonhole dahlias. The mother of the bridegroom wore, a full-length tunic frock in dahlia-shaded crepon trimmed with dice buttons and her posy was composed of toning shades. When Mr and Mrs A. H. Woolven left by car for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a cream tailored suit with tan pin stripe and accessories to match. They will make their home in Hamilton.
