BETTER DISTRIBUTION THE HON. R. SEMPLE’S REMARKS (Special to Times) AWANUI, Wednesday “Money cannot come from anything but the production of the country,” stated the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, when a request was made for financing the road north of Awanui, which the Minister described as an abomination. “Tt merely reflects the wealth created by production. This might be called the national pool. In future, however, it will be divided more evenly. The dividend king will receive less and the man who toils will get more. The. man who has lived on the exertions of others may squeal like a guinea pig, but he can squeal.” As to the road, Mr Semple said, it was a work that had to be done and he would sit on the Treasury doorstep for the money. The cost of metalling In the ordinary way would be reduced If a metal supply near at hand was found to obviate waiter transport.
