TE RAPA SUMMER MEETING POPULARITY OF THE RACES The popularity of the Te Rapa races was again instanced during the summer meeting which concluded yesterday when large crowds from far and near attended the meeting. On Saturday almost 1000 people arrived * the course bv train, while many thousands more journeyed to the course by cars which thronged the road and
parking area, bringing the attendance to one of the largest at a summer meeting at Te Rapa.
Two special trains were run from Auckland on Saturday, the first carrying 42b race-goers and the second 2 50. From Te Kuiti and intermediate stations 178 people travelled on tbs special race train while 70 arrived on the eastern line on the train from
Thames. Yesterdav the race train from Auckland carried 282 passengers and 40 came from Te Kuiti while the Rotorua express from Auckland stopped at the course to allow 30 passengers to disembark.
