The Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, left Wellington on Saturday for Rotorua, where he is attending the native school-teachers’ refresher course. On Saturday he will leave Rotorua for Whakatane and Auckland.
Messrs W. Biaire, E. E. Woodley ''Wellington) and T. L. Hawke (Christchurch) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Mr C. J. J. T. Barton. Colonial Secretary in the Western Pacific Administration, left by the Aorangi for Suva to-day after spending a fortnight in New Zealand.
Messrs W. Fraser and A. M. Bislev were appointed as the Waikato Winter Show Association's representative on the Hamilton Centennial Committee it a meeting of the association to-day.
Mr F. T. Glasgow, of Wellington, whose death occurred yesterday, was for many years the Kinjg Country delegate to the New Zealand Rugby Union. He was a life member of the King Country Union.
Sir Harry Batterbee, newlyappointed High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, is due to arrive at Auckland on March 9. He will he accompanied by Lady Batterbee and will proceed to Wellington to live.
Mr J. Kaiv, who has been Consul for Estonia in New South Wales, has been transferred to New York as Consul-General, and he was a through passenger for Vancouver by the Aorangi, which arrived at Auckland from Sydney yesterday.
Dr. E. C. Brewis. of Hamilton, is attending the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, at present being held in Christchurch. Dr. Brewis. who travelled south by car, is expected to return to Hamilton on Tuesday next.
Lieutenant-Colonel Stamer Gubbins, D. 5.0., 0.8. E. (retired;, formerly of the Royal Fusiliers, arrived at Auckland by the Aorangi from Sydney yesterday. Colonel Gubbins, who was born ‘in the Waikato, is accompanied by Mr Gubbins. and he will spend a few weeks' holiday in New Zealand.
Reference to the death Mr E. Allen, of Pukekohe, who had been an agricultural judge at the Waikato Winter Show for several years was made at a meeting of the Winter Show Association executive to-day. The members of the executive stood in silence as a mark of respect.
Constable J. J. Harvey, senior constable in New Zealand, who has served more than 4 0 years in the force including ten as an orderly in the Supreme Court, will retire on superannuation on Saturday. Altogether he lias been 20 years in Wellington. He received the Jubilee Medal for his long service.—P.A.
Sir Harry Txvyford, until recently Lord Mayor of London, is due at. Auckland by the Rangitata from Loudon on March 9 to spend several weeks’ holiday in the Dominion, which he knew as a young man. He will leave Wellington on April* 3 for Australia and will later touch at Auckland again on his way to Canada by the Aorangi.
Major-General Sir Andrew McCulloch, D. 5.0.. who recently retired from the appointment as colonel of the Highland Light Infantry and the command of the 52nd (Lowland; Division, after a distinguished Army career, left Auckland to-day by the Aorangi for Honolulu. With Lady McCulloch, he has been visiting New Zealand for several months and has been staying with his *on, Mr C. McCulloch, of Motuniaoho.
