ASSAULT ON WOMEN
FOUR MAORIS IMPRISONED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) GISBORNE, Monday Sentence of four months’ imprisonment was imposed on each of four Maoris who appeared before justices at Hicks’ Bay on charges of assaulting two women. Accused were Paparangihua Houkaumau (24), Hera Houkaumau (22), Rewiri McClatchie (21) and Heta Edwards (20). Detective McWhirter stated that accused had gone to the house of a Maori woman aged 80 and assaulted her and also a young woman of 18.
