THEFT OF JEWELLERY

SHOP WINDOW SMASHED STOCK CONSIDERABLY DAMAGED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Monday Thieves who carried out a “smash and grab” raid on a jewellery shop at Milton on Saturday night were evidently disturbed for after taking a quantity of articles from the window, mostly women's watches, they left untouched rings and watches well within their reach. A diamond was used to cut a circle about nine inches in diameter in the window and a brick was then used to break a larger hole and through this hole watches of a fairly sub--stantial value were removed.

The window was cracked- from top to bottom and falling glass caused considerable damage to crystal and china ware.
