FAREWELL SOCIAL

FOR REV. FATHER COLUMB A very enjoyable social was held in the Masonic Hall recently, when the parishioners of St. Paul's Church, Ngaruawahia, gathered to bid farewell to Father Columb, who is leaving the district. On behalf of the parishioners, Mr J. Prendergast presented Father Columb with a well-filled wallet, and Miss M. Rodgers, on behalf of the Children of Mary, presented him with a beautiful gift. Mr D. R. Welch, the Mayor, Mr R. Eyre. Fathers Ryan, of Hamilton, Flynn j and McCarthy, of Auckland, all spoke j in complimentary terms of the work ; Father Columb had done during his term in Ngaruawahia.

The evening was spent with dancing and cards, the winners of the euchre tournament being Mrs Luxted and Mrs Eyre. A novelty waltz was won by Mr J. Wilson and Mi's Brennan- Mrs Tarplett’s orchestra supplied the music, and Mr J. O'Kane was M.C.
