SOUTH AUCKLAND’S WIN AUCKLAND CENTRE BEATEN CLEAN CUT VICTORY By .defeating a representative teanr. from the Auckland Bowling - Centre by 14 games, 424 points, to 6 games, 352 points, the South Auckland Bowling Centre retained the Hardley Shield when the annual match between the two centres was played at the Hamilton Club’s greens on Saturday. After the morning games, South Auckland were leading by 6 games, 198 points, to 4 games, 184 points, and in the afternoon's play they did even better to win eight games against Auckland’s two games. Both centres were represented by 10 teams. South Auckland’s victory on Saturday was its sixth win over the Auckland Centre in the Hardley Shield matches, both centres previous to Saturday’s match having each won the shield five times. South Auckland also had a comfortable win when the match was played at Auckland last year. The greens of the Hamilton Club were in perfect order on Saturday and the standard of bowling during the i day reached a high level. The play was exceptionally keen and there were several one-point victories.
