AURIE’S STAR PREVAILS OAKLEIGH PLATE SUCCESS AJAX BEATS YOUNG IDEA (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) MELBOURNE. Feb. 19 Carrying 9.12, Aurie’s Star won his second Oakleigh Plate at the Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting, which opened at Caulfield yesterday. Curie's Star is the only horse who has won the race twice. Ajax received an ovation when he equalled Carbine's record of 15 consecutive wins by brilliantly capturing the St. George Stakes.
HOLLOW VICTORY WAIREKA EQUALS RECORD SYDNEY. Feb. 19 In spite of the fact that she drew an outside barrier position, Waireka (Waikare—Miss Molong) equalled the track record of 1.7 for five and a-hn!f furlongs, when she recorded a hollow victory by three lengths in .the Ingleburn Nursery Handicap al the Warwick Farm Races on Saturday. The consistent Red Sails won the chief event, the Warwick February Handicap, in which Golden Treasure was unplaced. Link let. ran unplaced in the Minto Handicap.
