LARGEST IN WORLD

SHOW BACON EXHIBIT OVER 400 SIDES ENTERED WINTER EXHIBITION FEATURE With an entry of 416 sides of bacon from all parts of the Auckland Province, the Dominion Bacon Championship at the Waikato Winter Show this year will be the largest exhibit of its kind in the world. Authorities in the industry state that there is no record of such a large number of sides having been shown under competition. The dairy section at the show has held a similar distinction for some years and with the progress of dairying along more scientific lines has come the added interest in pig-raising. The quality of the carcases in last year's bacon championship demonstrated very forcibly the great strides made in devoloping the right type for the British trade and with undoubtedly stronger competition this year the judge will be set a hard task. As probably the most valuable adjunct of dairying ,or as a profitable branch of agriculture on its own, pigfarming has leapt to the fore in the Waikato and the exhibit at this year's show will provide one of the finest opportunities of observing the fruits of years of careful selection and management. The educative value of such an exhibit cannot be underestimated and it will rank as one of the outstanding features of the show.
