Good Health

MOST ESSENTIAL FACTOR THE DUTY OF PARENTS PROPER FEEDING AND CLOTHING More than ever before it is essential for every man and woman to be healthy, for without good health a person is unable to stand up to the strain of modern times, and it is surely the survival of the fittest who reaches the top of the ladder in the trade or profession in which he or she is engaged. It is universally acclaimed that it is far better to be poor and healthy than rich and ill, for all the money in the wide world cannot putchase good health. The health of the human being commences in the cradle and as the babe grows into a boy or girl a great responsibility rests with the parents in seeing that the child, in order to fit itself for entry into the world of life, is correctly fed and properly dressed. With regard to the feeding question it is recognised that many foods contain the necessary vitamins while others—although fancied, are detrimental to health. To the wise parents nothing is too much trouble in the preperation of their children s meals, and the suggestions for children’s luncheons sponsored by the Waikato Winter Show Association is proving most helpful to mothers who find it an excellent and useful reference. The clothing question is also an important factor in the health of the child, and a little common sense and only a small outlay in capital is necessary to ensure that the correct weights are worn. As pointed out by the Waikato Winter Show Association, fresh air is an absolute necessity, and plenty of cleansing soap and water are also attributes which must be in constant use, as without bodily cleanliness no mother can expect her offspring to grow up into a healthy man or woman.
