Art Section 4. Superintendent: ENTRIES CLOSE SATURDAY, MAY 6th, 1939. THE RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE THOSE GOVERNING THE EXHIBITION EXCEPT WHERE THE FOLLOWING TAKE PRECEDENCE. Each exhibit must be the bona fide new work of the Exhibitor executed since the last Waikato Winter Show, and not copied from illustrations. The Name and Address of the Exhibitor must be written or attached to the back or bottom of each exhibit. All drawings and paintings must be mounted on stiff cardboard or otherwise framed and over-all size if given to be adhered to. All Exhibits will be judged mainly under the three following headings: Design, Colour and Technique. Classes so marked are open to Art Students and Artists. Professionals are those who wholly or substantially earn their living by Art or Teaching. If only three Exhibits, second prize money will be given. No third prize will be awarded unless there are seven or more competitors. Exhibits containing glass will be received entirely at the Exhibitor’s risk. ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE PRESENTED AT THE WAIKATO WINTER SHOW BUILDINGS BEFORE NOON ON SATURDAY, MAY 27th, 1939. DRAWING AND PAINTING. For Pupils of Primary, Secondary or Art Schools 14 years and under at time of entry. Entry Fee 1/-. First prize 10/6; second 5/-; third 2/6. Class 1— Study in Pencil, Hammer and Plane on Stool. 2 Study in Water Colour, Fancy Plate and Vase on coloured Tray Cloth. 3 Roman Capitals in Pencil. The words, "Health and Cleanliness Pays.” Overall size, 16in. x 12in. 4 Study in Colour of three apples on coloured plate. Size, 12in. x 18in. 6—Designs in coloured crayons, for Poster, subject, "Safety First.” Size 12in. x 18in. 6 Water Colour or Oils study. Any subject. Size 24in. x 18in. 9 Study in pencil, three common objects. Teapot, Cup and Saucer and Jug. 10— Study in colour, Umbrella, Deck-chair and Water-ball. Size, 18in. x 16in. 11— Original study in Oils. Amy subject. 12— Original Water Colour Study, any subject. 13— Design in colour for Poster, Subject "Health.” Size, 12in. x 18in. OPEN TO ART STUDENTS AND ARTISTS. (Not Professionals.) Entry Fee 1/6.
