ACROSS THE PACIFIC NEW CONTRACT ASKED FOR LOSS OF 900,000 DOLLARS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) ' WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 Pan-American Airways have asked for a contract for a lump sum of 3,680,000 dollars for carrying mails across the Pacific. Hitherto they have received 2,000,000 dollars annually. They said the present trans-Paciflc service is operating at a loss of 900,000 dollars annliallv.
