Y.M.C.A. CLUB’S EVENTS CLOSE FINISHES WITNESSED The Y.M.C.A. Swimming: Club held a successful club night at the Municipal Baths on Tuesday when some, fast races with close finishes were witnessed. A high standard was also maintained in the diving. Following are the results of the swimming events: — Width race for liny lots: A. Pipe, t ; .7. Cooke. 2 : M. Thorpe. 3. Junior boys’ 33 1-3 yards: O. Seymour, 1: S. Brain, 2: A. Mead. 3. Junior girls’ 33 1-3 yards: J. Gall. 1; G. Cowan, 2; G. Shirley, 3. Intermediate girls’ 33 1-3 yards: N. Parnell. I: R. Lewis, 2: J. Macdonald, 3. Senior men’s 33 1- yards: T. O’Meara. 1: K. Muir and D. Bullock dead-beat for second. MARIST HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS KEEN CONTESTS IN HAMILTON The anuual swimming sports of the Marisf, High School were held at the Hamilton Municipal Baths on Tuesday afternoon. There was brilliant sunshine and a number of parents and friends were present to witness some fine contests. The standard of swimming was particularly good and all three championships were keenly fought. F. Horan put up a good performance to annex the senior title. J. Scally and J. Collins, two intermediates, were evenly matched. F. Poi and B. Doherty provided the thrills in the junior section with the latter winning the junior title. Results:— 33 1-3yds junior championship: F.
