FITNESS WEEK
HAMILTON PROGRAMME DETAILS FINALIBED SPORTS AND DANCING Details of the programme for Thysical Fitness Week in Hamilton were finalised last evening at a meeting of the Hamilton Fitness Week Committee. A start will be made on Saturday and will continue until the following Saturday, the official programme being as follows: Throughout the week: Inter-house cricket tournament. Saturday: TeDnis match, Waikato v. Taranaki. Wednesday, February 22: Floodlight carnival at Hinemoa Park. 7 p.m.: Procession of members of various sports bodies from Knox Street via '•ictoria Street to Hinemoa Park. Address by the Mayor. 8 p.m.: Massed folk dancing by primary school children. 8.20 p.m. to 8.45 p.m.. Athletic cycling events. Highland dancing. 8.45 p.m.: ■Children's o\erhead ball and pass hall display. 9.5 p.m. to 9.35 p.m.: Athletic and cycling events. Highland dancing. 9.35 p.m.: Band quickstep. Thursday, February 23: Special films obtained from the Department of Internal Affairs to be screened. Saturday, February 25: South Auckland swimming championships at the Hamilton baths. in the event of wet weather the programme arranged for Wednesday, February 22, will be postponed to Thursday, February 23. Athletic Events The following programme of athletic and cycle events has been drawn up for the Physical Fitness Week carnival on the evening of February 22. at Hinemoa Park:— Half-mile senior cycle, half-mile junior cycle, 100 yards junior, 100 yards senior, 75 yards women's, pole vault, mile junior cycle, mile senior cycle, 1000 yards open, 220 yards hurdles, high jump, 880 yards junior, 220 yards senior, 120 yards women’s, senior shot putt, hop-step-jump, 440 yards open, three mile cycle.
