PRE=WEDDING PARTIES

CLUB MEMBERS HONOURED PRESENTATIONS MADE St. John’s Girls’ Club, Te Awamutu, recently honoured three of its members, Miss Mollie Cruickshank, who is to be married next Saturday, Miss Elsie Melville, whose wedding takes place early in March, and Mrs Jack Dalton, who was married just after the club went into its winter recess. Mrs Stanley Empson kindly lent her beautiful home and spacious grounds for the function and the 30 members present thoroughly enjoyed themselves with tennis, clock golf, at which Miss Catherine Germann had the best score, and quoits, at which Miss Empson and Mrs G. Rollitt tied. After afternoon tea, the president, Mrs Martin Sullivan, wished the guests every happiness for the future, and regretfully referred to the departure of Miss Mollie Cruickshank, who had been secretary. Miss Cruickshank and Miss Melville were the recipients of silver sandwich trays, and Mrs Dalton was presented with an etching of Lambeth Castle. Eacli guest acknowledged her gift, and Mrs SulliMn thanked Mrs Empson for the use of her home. Those present were 'Mesdames Sullivan, B. Morriss, Howard Empson, B. Downes, A. Cruickshank, 'G. Rollitt; Misses B. Dunkley, C. Germann, S. Empson, B. Tucker, A. Gifford, L. Finch, E. Palmer, F. Germann, L. North, L. Cruickshank, X. Potts, M. Reilly, C. Montefiore, S. Parr, J. Ryburn, P. Melville, K. Kerr. KITCHEN EVENING FOR MISS M. CRUICKSHANK Miss Mollie Cruickshank was the guest of honour recently at a kitchen evening arranged by Mr and Mrs M. Barnett and members of the Te Awamutu Power Board staff, of which Miss Cruickshank was a member. About 50 friends attended in the Oddfellows’ Hall, and dancing, games and competitions passed the evening pleasantly, music being supplied by Misses E. Palmer, L. Nath, P. Cooper and A. Manson. After supper Mr Barnett asked Miss Cruickshank to accept the large array of parcels with good wishes from her many friends, who regretted that her marriage meant her residence in Auckland. Mr A. Cruickshank acknowledged the good wishes on behalf of his daughter and apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mr J. Kealey. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne"” brought to a close a happy evening.
