DANGER AVERTED
BUBH FIRES IN VICTORIA INQUEST ON VICTIMS RELIEF FUND OF £200,000 (United Pres* Asm.—Dee. TeL Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 14 A cool change which Is expected to last two days has brought to an end the bush fire danger for the present. Although 40 houses were endangered in various places yesterday, only four were destroyed. The change of wind swept the fires back into burnt-out country. Fire fighters are still standing by in case of emergencies. An open finding was recorded by the coroner to-day at the inquests on the eight victims of the Tooiangl fire last month. The coroner said he was unable to say with certainty how the fire began, but he was inclined to agree with the forest officers that the fire was deliberately lit. The total fire relief fund is reaching the £200,000 mark, but the claims lodged total £1,000,000.
