BARTER AGREEMENT

GERMANY AND AMERICA EXTENSIVE DEALS NEGOTIATED PRIMARY PRODUCTS TAKEN (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 14, 3 p.m.) TORONTO, Feb. 13 The Associated Press’ Washington correspondent reports that an extensive barter deal between Germany and the mid-Western co-operative farm and packing organisations is being negotiated, under which lard, wheat and other primary products will be directly exchanged for German manufactures. Germany is prepared to take several hundred tons of lard and 150,000 tons of wheat. Similar arrangements have already been entered into with California citrus ami Virginia apple growers for German fertilisers. Mr Cordell Hull indicated that lie does not object to pure barter as long as it is not accompanied by artificial currency devices and does not interfere with the reciprocal trade agreement programme.
