ACCIDENTAL DEATH
THROWN FROM HORSE (Special to Times.) TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday A verdict that deceased died as the result of injuries received when he was thrown from his horse and that no blame was attachable to anyone was returned by the coroner, Mr W. Jeffery, when the inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Maori old-age pensioner, Pura Turner, of Te Tahi, Pirongia, was completed yesterday. A motor-salesman, James G. Neilson, of Te Awamutu, said when he was approaching the Waipa River bridge on the Pirongia-Kawhia Road on Monday, January 23, he noticed a man on horseback on the brige. When the horse was about two yards from the car it. reared and bumped into the mudguard of the vehicle. The rider tried to dismount, but was thrown heavily when the anim.al plunged and witness assisted him hohie, later tak-* ing him to Te Awamutu for attention. The medical evidence disclosed that deceased suffered a fractured skull and haemorrhage of the brain.
