OBITUARY
MR FREDERICK MARTIN (Special to Times) TE AROHA, Monday The death has occurred of Mr Frederick Martin, of Te Aroha, aged 62 years. Mr Martin was born at Puketapu, Hawke’s Bay, his parents having arrived in New Zealand shortly before by the sailing ship Hudson in 1877. Later they moved to Woodville where they settled on a bush section and the late Mr Wilson was then apprenticed to a firm of coachbuilders. When 2'2 he went to Masterton and in 1916 came, with his family, to Te Aroha, where he was engaged as a wheelwright and body builder. In his younger days Mr Martin was a keen Rugby footballer. When in Masterton he was a life-member of the band and on coming to Te Aroha he was connected with the Municipal Band. He was also a member of the Thames Valley Agricultural and Pastoral Associat : on and Calf Club while he was associated with the freemasons and foresters’ lodge. The late Mr Martin is survived by a widow and one daughter.
