CAMBRIDGE WEDDING

JYIcFARL ANE—NEWCOIVI3E B-RIDE IN WHITE LACE Floral decorations in autumn tints made an attractive setting for the white and fuchsia colour scheme worn by the bride and her attendant at the wedding, wnich took place at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Cambridge, on the evening of Saturday, February 4, when Dorothea Catherine, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs R. Newcombe. of “Rocky Nook,” Pukeroro, was married to Frederick Hugh, youngest son of Mrs A. McFarlane, Bryce Street, Cambridge. The Rev. C. W. Chandler was the officiating minister and Miss Mollie Sawers presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr R. Newcombe, wore a charming gown of white stiffened lace simply cut on classical lines. The bodice, fashioned with a V-shaped neckline, was shined on each shoulder and finished with tiny lace-covered buttons, and the sleeves were short and fully puffed. The full skirt fell to form a train, and her beautiful tulle veil embroidered in true-lover's knots was caught to the head by a halo of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies and maidenhair fern. 'Maid In Fuchsia Miss Irene Newcombe attended her sister as bridesmaid, and wore an attractive frilled frock of Mexican fuchsia marquisette over taffeta. A marquisette veil fell from a spray of fuchsia flowers in her hair and she carried a sheaf of gladioli and maidenhair fern to tone. Mr Basil Bell, of Matamata, was best man and the ushers at the church were Mr J. Newcombe and Mr R. S. Hastie. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Triangle Rooms, where Miss E. Newcombe received the guests wearing a midnight blue ensemble with oyster trimmings and hat to tone. Her posy was composed of autumn-tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy marocain frock under a navy coat and hat to tone and she carried a posy of goldenshaded flowers. When Mr and Mrs F. H. McFarlane left by car for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a teal Swiss crepe frock with hat to tone and a brown squirrel fur cape. They will make their home in Matamata.
