PRICES FAVOUR SELLERS I INCREASE IN EXPORTS ITALY=URUGUAY PACT (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright; LONDON, Feb. 12 Bradford wool prices have moved in sellers* favour. The home trade in Merino tops Is fairly active. The Continent has strongly inquired for crossbreds, resulting in considerable business. It is pointed out that New Zealand, Australian, South African and South American wool exports last year were approximately 600,000 bales greater than in 1937, and it is believed that January exports were on a similar scale. This is regarded as indicating that buyers And the present reasonable prices irresistible. Italy has renewed Its trade pact with Uruguay for a period of three years, facilitating wool purchases of £750,000 sterling, almost double the previous agreement. It is believed that Italy hopes to obtain chiefly Merinos, owing to the difficulty in financing purchases from British Empire markets.
