NEW OVERHEAD BRIDGE

PROGRESS NEAR PUTARURU (Special to Times) PUTARURU, Saturday Good progress is being made with the overhead traffic bridge being built by the Public Works Department on the main Taupo highway, half a mile south of Putaruru. The bridge, beeliminating a railway level crossing, where there have been several accidents within the past few years, will also dispense with a sharp bend in the road. The structure, which will be 210 ft. in length and 23ft. from the ground at its highest point, is being built as part of the major scheme of development of the Waitoa-Taupo highway. At present temporary timber piles have been erected to carry the concrete superstructure. The work has been in progress for two months and it will probably be the end of the year before it is open to traffic.
